Hi, I'm Alex Schmidt.

I'm a comedy writer and podcaster and Internet thing-maker.

I believe in using the time of total strangers as well as possible.

I make the podcast Secretly Incredibly Fascinating! Here's how to listen. It's a proud new member of the artist-owned, listener-supported Maximum Fun podcast network. We've also added my wonderful friend Katie Goldin as my weekly co-host, and feature guests from all over comedy.

'SIF' is a good podcast. It's a top pick of Podcast Brunch Club, The A.V. Club, Apple Podcasts, and The New York Times, to name a few.

Prior to making Secretly Incredibly Fascinating, I hosted & produced more than 150 episodes of The Cracked Podcast. It used to be an internationally popular comedy podcast on the Earwolf network. We did live episodes all over the United States, plus London. I also co-created & co-hosted the #1 Kurt Vonnegut podcast. "Kurt Vonneguys" is mostly on hiatus, with occasional new episodes when we find a wonderful new Vonnegut thing.

I'm a comedy writer! I contribute to 1-900-HOT-DOG and to The New Yorker. I also wrote comedy for The Onion, BBC America, Funny Or Die, CollegeHumor, The American Bystander and lots more places. I also created and hosted a set of YouTube comedy shows for the former website Cracked dot com. Here are some highlights.

I created an emoji! With help from friends and loved ones, I proposed the bison emoji to Unicode (the world governing body for emojis). Unicode approved it. The bison emoji rolled out to worldwide device keyboards in late 2020. The bison emoji process was very personal for me. Hear the whole story in my podcast miniseries "1 Way To Make An Emoji". 🦬

Right now I'm focused on large writing & podcasting projects. E-mail me to see my prize-winning TV comedy scripts. Also I'm a creative consultant on Joel Samataro & Cole Bruns's fantastic stand-up show Game Over Comedy.

I'm a 4-Time Jeopardy! Champion. Yes, Alex Trebek was everything I hoped he'd be. No, I cannot lend you any of the money. E-mail me to ask further questions.

"Hey Alex, what are additional fun things about you?”

I’ve worked as a zoo tour guide, rehearsed scenes with Malcolm McDowell, and podcasted underneath Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

"Hey Alex, I need your headshot, for an article or poster or something.”

Sure, here it is.

“Hey Alex, I need to get in touch with you.”
